I keep salt water
in a jar on my
kitchen shelf,
for days when
I can’t face
my days.
I take down the jar and
gently tilt the water
back and forth,
letting the captured
waves hypnotise
me until I’m lost in
a timeless sea.
Far away from
this broken morning,
far away from
this house that
needs cleaning.
Far away from my
body that needs feeding.
Until I become a
wave that needs nothing
but the pull of gravity.
